Websites · Troubleshooting
Traffic's fine. Nobody's calling.
The problem is usually in the first screen and the last click.
When a site gets visitors but no contacts, the fix is rarely a redesign. It's usually four or five specific things, and they're the same ones almost every time.
Here's the list, in the order we check it.
The usual conversion killers
Nobody can tell what you do
A clever headline where a clear one belongs. Say the service and the city.
The next step isn't obvious
Three competing buttons is the same as none. One primary action, repeated down the page.
It's slow on a phone
Uncompressed hero images and heavy scripts lose a meaningful share of visitors before anything renders.
There's no proof
No reviews, no photos of real work, no license or guarantee. Strangers need a reason to trust you.
The form is doing too much
Eleven required fields, a captcha, and no idea what happens after submit.
Websites · Troubleshooting questions
- Do I need a whole new website?
- Usually not. Most of the lift comes from a handful of changes to the pages that already get traffic.
- What's a good conversion rate?
- For local service sites, 3–8% of relevant visitors contacting you is a reasonable range. Paid landing pages should do better.
