The Adventure Tour Marketing Funnel
Most tour operators should think about marketing in four stages.
1. Discovery
This is where someone first finds your company.
They may search:
“best rafting tours near Denver”
“kayak tours in Gulf Shores”
“family-friendly zipline tour”
“ATV rentals near me”
“things to do in Asheville”
“guided hiking tours in Colorado”
They may also discover you through Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, travel blogs, local tourism sites, Google Maps, or recommendations from friends.
At this stage, your job is to show up.
2. Consideration
This is where the traveler compares options.
They are looking at your tour pages, photos, reviews, pricing, availability, cancellation policy, and overall vibe.
At this stage, your job is to build trust.
3. Booking
This is where the person decides whether to reserve a spot.
They need a clear offer, easy booking process, strong calls to action, and confidence that they are making the right choice.
At this stage, your job is to remove friction.
4. Follow-Up
This happens after someone books, completes a tour, or abandons the booking process.
Follow-up can include confirmation emails, reminder texts, review requests, referral offers, upsells, and retargeting campaigns.
At this stage, your job is to maximize the value of every customer. The Adventure Tour Marketing Funnel
